Maui Budget Cars does not charge for additional drivers. Upon check-in, you can add drivers to the rental agreement without incurring any additional charges.

Yes we do! Please note, that any after-hour pick-ups & drop-offs are subject to prior arrangement and agreement.
Maui Budget Cars does not charge an additional administration fee for after-hours arrangements, however, an additional airport parking fee of $15 will be applied to your reservation.

To rent a Maui Budget Car, we would need to collect your credit card information to be kept on file for the vehicle incidentals, which may be
charged in case the vehicle is returned dirty, damaged or with no gas.
If you do not have a credit card to provide upon check-in, depending on the vehicle category, we may accept an amount of $300-$500 either charged to your card or in cash, which is refunded back to you upon rental vehicle return

Yes we do! We offer high-quality baby seats & boosters (that meet US high safety standards).
Please be sure to book in advance (online or by phone). When booking online, simply add the number of seats or boosters you need for your booking.
Unfortunately, we no longer provide GPS rental service here at Maui Budget Cars.
Since we are living in the age of electronics with all kinds of phones & gadgets, access to the internet has become much easier than a few years back. For almost the same price as GPS rental, you can now easily purchase a new SIM card loaded with internet data or ask for a regular map at any tour desk located in almost every hotel or town as you travel around the island. Having just a few highways around It would be very
hard to get lost here in Maui.

A credit card must be presented at the start of the hire along with FULL drivers licenses for all drivers. Please Note: Debit cards can be used for payment but are subject to additional security deposit (Depending on the vehicle category, $300-$600).

Unfortunately due to the size of our vehicle fleet it may not be possible to guarantee a specific make or model of car. If there is a specific make/model you would like, make a reservation online and then contact central reservations to confirm availability by calling at (808) 446-6200
Our regular minimum rental period is 5 days. This is the only way that we can provide you with great rates, so if you need a car for one to four days our rental prices are higher than our regular rate.
Since we operate on a first come first serve basis, after your reservation is confirmed, the vehicle will no longer be available to other customers, therefore, the initial deposit becomes non-refundable and shall be considered as compensation for the loss of other potential reservations.
Our best rates are already published on the website. Rates are fixed and no other discounts will be applied

Our vehicles must only be used on roads which are properly formed and constructed (paved or unpaved). Vehicles are not permitted to be taken to beaches or through streams, dams, rivers or flood waters.
It is very rare that our vehicles break down, as we are always making sure that every vehicle’s state is checked every time it comes back from the road as well as prior to heading out for next reservation. In case of mechanical vehicle problems like:
• Engine faults
• Electrical faults
• Cooling system
• Vehicle recovery
Maui Budget Cars will provide you with a same category vehicle in exchange until the issue has been identified and resolved. During the busy season we may have to switch the car back as soon as the issue has been resolved.
For all Non-Mechanical breakdowns, you will need to pay the applicable fee directly to the roadside assistance service provider prior to their attendance
Non-mechanical breakdowns include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Running out of fuel
• Refilling the vehicle with the incorrect fuel (i.e. putting diesel in instead of unleaded gasoline)
• Damage to wheels and/or tires
• Losing the keys or locking them inside the vehicle
• Having a flat battery due to the ignition or lights being left on
• A breakdown as a result of damage caused in an accident, including salvage To avoid unexpected charges we recommend you take out additional Roadside Assistance Cover which covers running out fuel, lost keys or keys locked in the car, flat battery due to lights left on, and wheel changing
Please be sure to contact Maui Budget Cars at (808) 446-6200 and tell us about the issue. Most of the time, the problem is so small that it can easily be resolved over the phone by going over basic troubleshooting steps with one of our associates. This may save lots of time for everyone in that case

We encourage you to see as much of the island as you can fit in your traveling schedule, but please do remember, that you as a renter will be responsible for any damages made to our vehicle
-Take your time and go really-really slow when the road is rough, this way you can also see much more of the island!
-Do not attempt driving on a dirt road, Especially when it rains.
-When parking your vehicle, make sure to watch out for Keawe trees (sharp tree spikes will not only scratch the rental vehicle, but will also make your tires flat which in the end you will have to pay for)
Driving in Maui can at first be quite a frightening act for even the most experienced drivers. Even though driving styles of local drivers may vary, the rules of the road are exactly the same as on the mainland. With a little bit of focus and patience, driving will give you independence to travel, become entirely manageable and an enjoyable experience.
Maui Budget Cars, like any other car rental company, provides third party commercial liability insurance that works as a secondary insurance and covers only third parties in case of an accident.
The renter is responsible for any damages made to our vehicle.
In the event of an accident, please follow the four steps below:
- Get the following details from the other party involved:
-Name
-Address
-Telephone number
-Insurance company name.

Report to the Police and provide Maui Budget Cars with the Police Report No.
Complete an accident report-form in our office as soon as possible
Additional car insurance is definitely suggested, so make sure to double check with your credit card company as well as the car insurance carrier to see if your rental can also be covered additionally
If you would be looking to have an additional insurance coverage from our company, we may be able to provide that for $20-$30 per day on select models (with a minimum of one week coverage)

Rates, Charges & Damage Coverage

What’s not included in the price:
- 4.5% processing charge with all debit / credit card transactions.
- roadside assistance – battery drain, keys lockout situations, lost or stolen keys replacement, blow out tires. All those situations are the customer’s responsibility, unless ‘roadside assistance protection’ was purchased through our company.

Maui Budget Cars does not impose a surcharge for senior drivers.
If you return your vehicle earlier than expected, we will recalculate you rate, regarding the new rental length and charge accordingly. Remaining balance would be refunded. Please NOTE: no refunds for rentals shorter than 5 days.
Left over garbage, spills, food, stains or interior damages will have a minimum of $50 applied towards cleaning & fixing it. All the big trash has to go. If you have experienced a rainy day in Maui, please make sure that no dirt marks are left on seats, sealing or the dash. Watch out for spills and do not let wet clothes or towels stay inside the vehicle, it may take more time to air out afterwards. Some sand is ok, but please, do not trash the car, but instead, take care of it just like it’s your own.
